I like emperors too, just be careful to keep the spraybars clean

A canister is probably overkill.

yea guess your rights. its also the only one of those i dont have to order online because the price would be the same after the shipping and handling.

some questions tho, can i use another cartridge instead of the media basket? and does that media basket goafter or before the cartridge?

i still havent really made up my mind so advice is still welcomed..

The media basket comes before the filter cartridge, and i'm pretty sure you can use another cartridge in it's place, but i'll doube check for you.

I use a fluval 203 on my 30g. any cannister with around 400lph flow rate would do the job......if you want to spend more money on a filter that is.....otherwise just go for a biowheel HOB

ok just got my emperor 280 for 30 bucks. just arrived by UPS.

it is GIGANTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!. i cant belive how HUGE it is. im using it on my 10G for a while so the bio-wheel can get seeded, i also put some NIC on the wheel. i filled the media basket with cut up pieces of the sponge insert from my old AC 150. its running awsome...

I would have told you the Eheim if I'd have seen this post. None of the stores around me carry replacement anything for any of the canister filters I use...but you don't exactly go through it that quick. I've been running an xp3 for four months and am still using the original sponges......you can find a good deal online for that stuff, and maybe a replacment part here and there just in case like a spare impeller, and be set for a couple years.

ahh well. i probably didnt need that much filtering any ways. after people said emperor filter, i thought again about canisters, then i decided that the mess with hoses and priming wasnt worth it, escpecially not for a 30 gallon tank.

thanks ne ways tho
