dashman![]() Hobbyist Posts: 101 Kudos: 408 Votes: 201 Registered: 26-Oct-2003 ![]() ![]() | I am going away for a week soon so I have set up timers (for lights) and automatic feeders on 2 of my tanks. I have divided to fish from the 3rd tank between the other 2 (all 3 where understocked so there are no wories there). I have emptied the 3rd tank (good time to get rid of the hundred or so snails) and left it empty. I have put the filter from the now empty tank into an old stocking and placed it into on of the other 2 tanks. Will this help to keep the bacteria alive so that when I reset up the 3rd tank the cycle will be quicker? Thanks ![]() Its better to be hated for who you are... Than loved for who you are not |

The bacteria on the old media will continue to stay alive, and when you set up the tank again, be sure to have fish in it when you put the media back in, or else the fish waste will not be present to keep it alive. Keep the media moist, and let it be without fish for no more than an hour. |
