jbunn Small Fry Posts: 2 Kudos: 2 Votes: 0 Registered: 06-Jul-2007 | I checked my tank today to find one of my neons missing. It was one that may have had ick. I have a common pleco about 2-1/2". Is it possible that it might have eaten it? |

It's possible that it died overnight and gotten eaten by your plec and/or other fish in the tank. A neon is a very small fish and would get taken care of in no time. You searched under all the ornaments? |

If you have Ich you might have to treat the whole tank before adding any more fish. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. I thought I lost a neon once (I have a 60 gal. tank) for about a week. Then, one morning, I noticed that my little neon school was back to 6... with one of them looking really pale with little stubs for fins and even what looked like a small kink in his spine near the tail. It was pathetically puttering along with the others, but seemed to be in high spirits. I was quite surprised, and it took some time to convince my little nephew that is was NOT a zombie fish. My best guess is that it was rendered immobile by either fin nipping or some disease, and just hid somewhere in my tank until it could swim around again. Don't worry though folks, this story has a happy ending, and that particular neon eventually recovered and is still alive 'n kicking today Anyways, I guess my point is to scour your tank and see if he just might be hiding somewhere. Neons can squirm into the smallest places! |
