Okay this question has really been bugging me so I'll ask it,

Why do people suggest wcmm's]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/profiles/whitecloud.xml[/link] for 5g (20ltr) tanks & not [link=neon tetras?
Is it beacuse their used to living in more space?
Is it beacuse their less hardy?
Is it beacuse their more active?
Is it beacuse they like to school more?

why? , thanx

White clouds are hardier and they survive in cold water. Small tanks are often not heated. I'd still suggest a 10g for them as they are very active and love company.

They are certainly a hardier fish and easy to look after especialy in a smaller tank.

Also Cardinals are hardier than the Neons and naturally more expensive.

So, would cardinals be bad? Or glolights? Or silvertips?

1st of all...these r schooling fish..they need to be at least 6 of them in there...thus, require lots of space to swim...and so...5g tank will fit that alrite...but ur sacrificing water stability, swimming space and stress-free environment for ur schooling fish. if u really want one..better get a bigger tank.

I have a 5 gal and honostly i think its way too small for a school of tetras or wcmm. For a 5 gal you could do:

killifish
guppies (Id stick with no more than 3)
endlers (Id stick with no more than 3)
female bettas
ADF
Cherry Barbs
Dwarf puffer

I'll do graffiti,
If you sing to me in French.

Dude, having kept white cloud minnows for a very long time now, (yrs straight, some of my clouds are getting pretty old), I would say you definetly could keep 6 in a 5g tank.
They would be just fine. They would have the whole space to themselves, and would be quite fine.
In my experience they really are not any more active than say a neon or glowlight, and really dont require a ton of space. They are also very hardy, and will do fine in water from ph 6-8.5, and from temps as low as freezing to as high as 85F.

Hi Dude,
well I keep several small tetras, I keep
in my 75g tank:
Glowlights (13)
Neons (14)
Pristellas (5)
Rummynose (5)
I have also kept before:
Penguins (a bigger tetra though).
Buenos Aires (4 in 25g tank with Angels).

What kinda info did you need?
I might have some answers lol
