	tetra id, please
jase101 Big Fish Posts: 345 Kudos: 273 Votes: 1 Registered: 06-Jul-2004	hi everyone - i have just bought six tetras that i have never seen before in australia, nor can i locate them so far on any databases - i think they are a subspecies of a black phantom, but would appreciate any pointers... they are tiny, only about 20 mm long, the bodies are see-through, with a small dark spot 4mm behind the eye, like a black phantom - they also have an erectile dorsal fin like a phantom, but it is whitish yellow at the base, with a black band and then a white band at the top, each section of equal width. the anal fin has the same markings, the tailfin is a very pale red - only noticeable in some light. they are very lively, voracious eaters, and are adults. any ideas? thanks, justin

I agree they are tough to find, I found them by accident. Where in Aus are you? Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

The oddist thing about mine is unlike most tetras mine don't school and in fact spend most of their time toward the bottom of the tank.

jase101 Big Fish Posts: 345 Kudos: 273 Votes: 1 Registered: 06-Jul-2004	i'm about 5 minutes from the heart of sydney - the pristellas were a nice find - i saw them in the shop about a month ago, didn't take them cos i didn't know what they were (and neither did the assistant) then i carefully planned my return a month later and offered to take them off her for a dollar each - it worked!! (did the whole - "well, i just don't know what they are, but nobody's bought them" etc - hehehe) - where are you, lindy?

I did actually have 8 but a couple have gone to the big fish pond in the sky when I had an illness run through the tank some months back. I'm in Melbourne.
