Anyone used Kordon's Rid Ich+? | |

I'm using the recommended full dose and when I add it, it turns the water blue/green due to the malachite green in it. After about 12hrs the water is clear again and I was just wondering if anyone knew if this is normal as I've never used it before. I've taken the carbon out of my filter. Also, I've been treating for three days at full dose as recommended yet my fish, although acting a bit more normal, are still covered in the parasite and it seems to be getting worse. Should I try something else or persevere? I've raised the tank temp to 28C and reduced feedings and turned off the light. |

Most of the time with ich, you have to treat the tank until the last spot is gone, and then continue treating for atleast a week after. If it has malachite green in it, then it is normal for it to turn the water colors. And the meds probably mix in with the water after so long, so the water turns back clear. I have never used that product, so I don't know how it usually affects the water. Using the full does is good. I would keep on like you are doing. Unless you have cories, loaches, or another type of scaleless fish, your fish should be ok. After a week the spots should start disappearing. That is how long it has taken me before to start seeing results. If after a week the spots are still getting worse, you may want to try something else. The last time I had ich I used Kent's Marine RXP. It is safe for freshwater and scaleless fish. It was hard to find, but worth the search. Good luck! |

I didn't use your product, but an Oz one more than likely not available in the UK. My water went a deep bluey/green & stayed that way. Faded slightly by day 3 after dosing, but that's when I did a water change & re-dosed the tank - so basically I've had a blue/green tank for 10 days now. Fish improved after 3 days & no sign now of ich. I've been told of a good UK product called Protozin by Waterlife. You might want to give that a try. I've used another product by this company & it was good. Good service too. The bottle has the email address & I asked a dosage question. They emailed me back the same day (I'm in Oz, so I thought that was good service). BTW, the advice I received was to increase temp to 29C. Hope you're fishies are ok. Cheers TW |

I have also heard that Protozin is great. Its not available here (in the US), so I didn't think to recommend it. If things don't get better soon, I would look for Protozin. |
