Buying meds/supplies be on look out for UBD | |
keithgh *Ultimate Fish Guru* Posts: 6371 Kudos: 6918 Votes: 1542 Registered: 26-Apr-2003 | Today I called into a LFS at a local shopping center just for a look see. Last year I noticed they had some Melafix passed the UBD I mentioned this to them but all I got was who cares attitude. Today I checked again yes there were more in fact all the stock of a certain size of bottle the UBD was 1st month 07. Has any one else noticed this if so what was your concern and was the LFS told about the product. I do not buy many meds thank goodness but any thing I buy I always check the UBD. I'm not sure if these two meds have a particularly short shelf life or what is going on, but it seems every time I go to purchase them they are either already out of date or only a month or two away from it. Needless to say I have not replenished my supplies of either for some time. I have not noticed if this is a problem with other meds as I have been lucky enough not to have a need for any recently. While we are on the topic, has anyone noticed that both Melafix and Bettafix now are of the same botanical extract? IME The useful lifespan tends to go past the use by with these but I suspect the potency drops and the dosing loses much in the way of accuracy, but it is hard to say without knowing what active is making the difference and testing for it. |

Possible reason for this pet & small aquarium area that they are just too dear in most of their products Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do.
