Give us the normal rundown of tank size, inhabitants, and water chemistry (NH3/NH4, NO2, NO3, pH, hardness, etc.)

That being said, given the time course and the fact that you had one established which seems to be doing fine, I'd guess some kind of shock. How did you acclimate them?

Edit: Reading again, I realize that I may be misunderstanding what you're saying. Did you already have a CL in there, or is the one you talk about in the first sentence the third of the trio you added?

Clown loaches are known for resting on their sides. Of course this can cause some worry when you have just lost two of the fish.

In addition to the questions that Joe asked -
o How did the two loaches behave prior to their death?
- Lethargic?
- Heavy breathing?
- Skittish?
- Head down?
o If you examined them after they died, did you see:
- Abrasions?
- Skin discoloration?
- Inflamed gills?
- Bumps or sores?
- Fungus?

I've had clowns sleeping on their sides and look like their dead, but IMO, with what few details we have so far, sounds like none of them we're healthy from the get go.

Ok here is the rundown.

All tests were done last night.

Temp 80 degrees F, PH 6.4 (Driftwood), N02 0, N03 40, NH4 0.25, Hardness 120 ppm, alkalinity 80 PPM, Tank is a 10 gallon. Inhabitants are 5 Australian Checkered Rainbows, and a CAE. Waiting to get the 55 cycled and then all will go into it.

The one I am talking about is the third of the trio. Prior to death the two loaches were not skittish, and one was swimming vertically head up. None were eating

The first one that died nothing noticeable, the Second one had what looked like a blood vessel ruptured in his belly.

The third one is now doing fine, Eating and swimming, occasionally laying on his side. But from what you guys are saying that is normal.
