Convicts with misty eyes? | |
tinfoil Big Fish Posts: 438 Kudos: 252 Votes: 1 Registered: 27-Feb-2003 | For a week and a half now, I've been keeping a pair of convicts. Only yesterday I found out that both of them have some sort of mist in their eyes. Can anyone tell me what this is and how to get rid of it? In 20 years of keeping barbs, I've never seen this before. You try something else once ... |

It is often exacerbated by nitrates in the water. Before medicating the fish in a hospital tank, test your nitrates and perform a large (50%) water change in nitrates are 20 ppm or above. __________ "To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." researched from Steven Wright |

Get it treated asap with something like melafix , and hopefully hexamita will not rear its ugly head. It might be worth checking water quality too, cichlids often require higher standards of cleanliness than a lot of barbs. |
