What are your water perimeters??

My guess would be pop eye.....http://www.fishprofiles.com/interactive/disease/popeye.asp

Is this what it resembles???

If so I'd def say pop eye.

Please write back with water tests so we all can help you better.

Thanks a ton

it dont really look like that...it has gray film over the eye like most blind fish get, and theres blood forming around the outside of the eye. He is an older fish, could that be it?

0 ppm ammonia and 0.3 mg/l for nitrite.. its a planted tank so the plants are eating the nitrite.

The disease was definately popeye. It normally starts out as a film over the eye and then progress to blindness. If any other of your fish come down with it treat with plenty of melafix.

I am very sorry to hear about your fish. How old was anyways??

As for medication, I am not the one to talk to I have never had this in my tank.
I belive personal experience with meds is best.

You shouldn't have any nitrite at all. That sounds like pop eye to me, which is usually directly related to poor water quality. Do some large water changes to get the nitrite down. You can also treat the tank with Seachem's Prime, which will help bind nitrite and make it less likely to harm your fish. Even with a product like that you still need to do some water changes (30-50%), give the tank a really good cleaning. How long has the tank been set up and what is your normal maintenance routine?

If the tank has been set up for a while and cycled you should never have ANY nitrite at all, regardless of whether your tank is planted or not. 0.3 ppm nitrite isn't a big deal in itself BUT it does point to other problems with tank water quality, as do the symptoms you described in the cory.

I'm sorry to hear you lost the fish, with a bit of digging we should be able to prevent it from happening to the others.

Pop-eye is a specific ailment, but bulging eyes can have a number of contributory causes, including flukeworms and protozoan infections in addition to water quality. Make sure you check into the possibilities. If it is a major protozoan infection, melafix wont touch it.

Pop-eye is also a compound symptom of dropsy (liver and/or kidney damage).
