I had recently bought 2 blue gouramis, a male and female, and They had been doing well. They were only 1-1.5 inches, and were sharing a 10 gallon with a ADF, 2 Guppies, and 2 ottos, also recently bought. A few days ago I noticed he didn't show much intrest in food, only eating a little. I didn't think much of it, he looked healthy and otherwise normal, chasing the female around as usual. but yesterday I noticed he wouldn't eat, was lethargic, was being docile and hiding and, most noticably, his color had gone from a silvery blue to a dark blackish-blue, I almost couldn't see the spots. But the stipes were still visible. He also was sitting on the bottom of the tank, only swimming up for air. Well, this morning he was dead, not floating, but on the bottom. The female's still healthy. He had a little red behind his little fins by the gills. I've also noticed a little white on the girl's tail fin. I think It's a fungus, But what about the male?

If pets are so stupid, how did they weasel free room and board out of us?

I will stick my neck out again in saying the Gouramis will get too big for that 10G tank.

They prefer 2-3FM to 1M. They can be rather an aggresive Gourami that is the reason I prefer the very passive Opaline Gourami.

They also like plenty of top cover floating plants etc. It could be stress/water polution. What are the water peramiters, filtration, percentage water changes, and how often. also any extra airation? Feeding amount and how often?

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

I know, I know, but a ten gal was all I had on hand. I have 2 bubblestones, and I feed tropical flake food twice a day in small amounts. When she gets bigger I'l move into the 30 gal. But First I want to make sure she lives. I do a 2 gal water change 1 a week, and I have some power filter, internal, that takes a medium cartrage, powered for a 2-10 gal.

The change in colouration could be a sign of environmental stress, whats the water perameters? A lot of bacterial slime diseases and velvet can cause radical changes of colour too.
