Female bristlenose plec died | |
wayne_rowley Fingerling Posts: 20 Kudos: 6 Votes: 0 Registered: 07-Apr-2006 | My female bristlenose died at the weekend. There is no obvious reason I can think of. There was no external sign of disease, but she had been off her food for a couple of days before and appeared to be gulping with her mouth while rested. Water conditions are fine: Amonia: 0 Nitrite: 0 (though it was restering about 0.2mg/l after I removed the body - I think caused by the decaying fish as it returned back to 0 the next day) Nitrate: 0-0.1mg/l Phosphate: 0.5 mg/l Other tank mates are fine. Any ideas why it might have died? Wayne |

Nitrate: 0-0.1mg/l How long has your tank been setup for? Do you have lots of plants in the tank? Strange nitrate level really |

She was about 9cm in length but we have only had her for 4 months. The tank has been set up since March this year. I bought the plec once the tank had cycled fully. I do have quite a fiew plants in the tank and the low nitrate reading is quite normal for me. Wayne |
