I posted an article a long time ago about foods for tropical fish.

It mentioned it can be caused by the mother and the fry not being fed the correct foods which contain all the necessary vitamins/minerals, as well as good clean water. etc.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

Sounds like Fish Tuberculosis to me. I don't know much about the disease, but what I do know is that it can be transmitted to humans, so if you have any wounds on your hands/arms, wear gloves when doing tank maintainence. For more info, look at the fish TB section on this site- http://www.fishpalace.org/Disease.html

It can also be because of inbreeding, which is pretty common among livebearers..

In breeding is extremly common as mentioned previously and you would have no idea of the breeding history of her. Sorry to say it is just one of those things that happen to guppies. As far as what you can do I personally do not think much can be done at all.

Is it a female guppy?
Is she a fair size?
If so, female guppies often develop bent spines
after having many large batches of young.
Its quite common and normal in older or prevalent females.

it probably has a bent spine.

depending on how bad it is, it could live for a few years, or it could get worse and worse, and eventually die.

i have had both things happen to my fish before.
