amazonfishkeeper Small Fry Posts: 8 Kudos: 11 Votes: 0 Registered: 01-Jan-2010 | I have a female guppy abt 1 week from giving birth. She has 5 symptoms i recognize: 1. Shyness. She is hiding under my swordplant all the time 2. Lack of energy. before she was swimming all over, now she was trapped near the intake of my outside power filter, too weak to swim away. 3. Whitish discoloration on the body: Before she was blonde on the body and red on the tail, now she has white patches/spots on her body. 4. fin transparancy: Her rear fin was red, now the edge is clear like glass. 5. Gasping. She is gasping and opening and closing her gills like she is having trouble breathing. The other fish in the tank, (6 lemon tetras, 4 corydoras, 2 otto cats,) Are not gasping and are showing normal behavior and color. Please help!!!! I want to have these baby fish, so i can raise them. The "Sick" fish will be moved to a 2 gallon tank with a betta in it. What should I do??? Is it a disease? If so, what can I use to treat it? Please help!!! I dont want to lose my fish AND all my baibies! |

(Wow!) It is fully cycled. The PH is 7.6-7.4. The temperature is 71* or so. The filtration is a Tetra Wisper internal filter 10-30 gallons. I am currently adding plant iron supplement, and kent's freshwater neutral controller, which contains phosphate buffers. I added salt to the tank already. Also, i noticed the white patches are fuzzy, kind of. |

Look at this site and in particular the desc the symptoms. It will tell you what it most probably is, how to treat it, and what to use. http://animal-world.com/encyclo/fresh/information/Diseases.htm Frank -->>> The Confidence of Amateurs, is the Envy of Professionals <<<-- |
