Bob Wesolowski Mega Fish Posts: 1379 Kudos: 1462 Registered: 14-Oct-2004 | Chris, It looks like you have a couple of things happening to your fish. I am going to give you a treatment plan although you have not indicated your tank conditions. It is always nice to know pH, GH, KH, nitrates and if you have measurable ammonia or nitrtites. Hell, it would be nice to know the size of the tank and the size of the fish! My GUESS is that the rash is due to high nitrates in the old tank. Nitrates can cause irritation over a period of time. The higher the nitrates the shorter the time to see the irritation. It manifests itself as a rash. Change the water. Do a 50% water change today followed by a 50% water change tomorrow. Do not feed it while it is in quarantine. Food will only deteriorate water conditions. It will be fine with no food for up to 2 weeks. The idea is that you want hospital like conditions - clean. The bumps are not parasites. It is a reaction to water conditions. Given 50% water changes, the bumps should go away in a day or two. Do not attempt to throw meds at the conditions. Water changes will make the bumps go away. Lastly, you appear to have a little fungus eating the fins. The treatment is - water changes! I recommend a week of 50% per day water changes, no food, no medicines. __________ "To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." researched from Steven Wright |
