hey guys,i recently got given a LARGE clown loach,this guy is way bigger and much more active than any other cl ive had b4,so i was feeding him some blood worms about half a hour ago,i ive noticed on 1 of the black stripes across his face what looks like a small burn,ive put in some melifix,and im going to buy a heater gaurd 2morro,i just wanted to know if i missed something or there is more that i can do...

It might also be a bruise it also could be the coloration's but to be safe keep an eye on it.
How big is the CL?

i just had the tape out,hes just shy of 7 inches,yeah never had 1 this big,hes really thick aswell,anyway the wound is question still looks the same,althought it hasnet afected him 1 bit,i cant beleave how active this guy is,looking at him now,hes belly is bulging and he is still looking for food.the wound is a whiteish colour,and its like a coulpe of layers of skin have been burned,i think it may have been hes belly that cuased him to get burned,something like forcing his head behind the heater looking for more food.actully now that i look at it,i rekon that what it was!so yeah poor fella...

Could have simply been the new environment, and not his piggy belly that made him bump into something....wait what am I saying?! of course it was his piggy belly!

But being in a new tank he's likely to have a bit of a learning curve on where stuff is.
I think melafix and a close eye is about all you can do at the moment.

I never thought a fish could get burnt by a heater though !

well it looks better today,ill do a wc,and add some more melifix,yeah i also didnt think fishies could get burned by heaters ether,but my guy at my lfs says yes i can happen!even more so with a clown loach,not having scales,but ive ordered in a heater gaurd,so when that comes,ill whip it in there.untill then,i hope his smart enuff to stay away from it
