It has been stated here on FP many times that with "Ich" you just dont treat the fish the tank must be treated. Time will depend on the length of time of each cycle of the parasite. To increase this in time the heat must be turned up, and airation added.

Now back to your question it depends on your tank and what you do to it.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

As stated above the best way is to treat the fish and tank. The best and cheapest way is to simply use table salt and slowly warm the water to about 86d F if possiable. The recommended time is about 1 month as this tends to be the life cycle of the ich parisite. I'm not sure but I think it is about 1 tsp of salt to evey 10g of water. I may be wrong though so someone else may help better. The reason for the temp needing to be higher is it will help kill off the ich must faster as it doesn't seem to do good with higher temps. Be sure that if you have any plants in the tank they can handle the salt. Most fish can adapt to the temp rise if it is done slowly enough. Some fish like cories on the other hand do not do well with temps that high so you will need to kepp it alittle lower, about 82d F. Cories also will not do well with salt so also watch that.
