My dw gourami has this big long poop hanging this mornng. The red color is not unusual as I do feed them red fish flakes every morning. The fish does not seem to be ill or anything. Is he just to lazy to finish it off and drop the poop or is there something wrong with him?

I do not have gouramis, however other fish that I have had had had "long poop" I do not think that your fish is sick.

I have the Opaline Gourami and I have never seen that. As you know mine get a wide and varied diet. Change it around a litle. Try some frozen blood worms and some food which has a roughage in it also the odd cooked green pea might also help.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

Is it just me or does his head look a little on the lumpy side, like theres tiny little oedemas under the scales, maybe hes caught a touch of something, bacterial or protozoan, they sometimes increase the output of cellulose making the poo tougher, longer and sometimes coated in mucous.

Here's another shot from this morning on one of the rare occasions he was at the front of the tank.
Most of the time he swims amongst the plants at the back of the tank.

Hey, I looked closely today and that is a lump. He doesn't seem sick tho. Tell me its not a nest of parasites which will erupt like something from "Alien" and infect everything in the tank.
