As I recall the active ingredient, or one of them, is Copper. That is deadly to snails and some fish. Read the precautions on the medication before purchasing it. It did kill my clams but didn't have any negative effects on my plants, otos, or biofilter. You can remove your snails to a spare tank or just a bucket of water with some aeration. Even if it's only the end of an air hose stuck in there. Most snails survive very cold temps without any health problems so a heater isn't necessary. Don't feed them so they don't pollute the water as much and they should survive fine until your finished treating the tank and removed what's left of the medication. |
