I found one website- the picture there http://aquaticfrogs.tripod.com/id18.html
is exactly what is happening to my frog.

I am going to add a teaspoon of aquaruim salt. they are in a 2.5 G

I moved them today, from my 25 G. i decided to move them after doing some extensive reading. I couldn't find this frog, when i did he was floating, in two hours he has gone from being able to swim a bit to now floating on his back unable to control himself.

can any one suggest further treatment?

thank you

GFG

There is more info where I got this from.
Dropsy
also known as Malawi bloat

Caused by: viral and/or bacterial infections, as well as metabolic and nutritional disorders

Symptoms: protruding scales and swollen body, causing a "pinecone-like" appearance.

Occurrences: Dropsy can occur in individuals in a healthy environment or fish which are in otherwise poor condition.

Treatment/Control: If possible, separate affected individuals in a quarantine tank. Treat with MelaFix or PimaFix. If treatment seems ineffective, treat with Furan 2 or Triple Sulfa.

GFG - has something happened to your tanks? You've got 2 bacterial infections going on in 2 tanks, or were the betta and frog together?

yes they were orignally both in the 25G.

it seems to be my thing to get,or rather for my fish to get.

thats why i wondered in the other post if any one knew of anything stronger to use.

it is nearly always fatal. the last group of fish i lost were my platies about 6 months ago. they went skinny and lost their scales. melafix did "seem" to work better and one platy survived, but generally the fish get darker, some times bloat, sometimes not, mostly they go very skinny.

Although Blue(betta) has survived Dropsey recently but is developing a lump on one side which i assue to be cancer. her "sister" peaches developed the same thing. don't know if anything is connected. i just do regular water changes and hope for the best. the babies i have that have grown up in my tanks seem to survive better than shop fish, the latest arrival was the frog.

thanks

GFG
