I am hoping to upload a picture so that you can see if you agree with what i think has happened. The larger discus was chasing the smaller one and this morning we noticed this on the side of the smaller one

Linnie to post a photo direct you must be a member otherwise a link to photo bucket or some other source.

I have cleaned up the photo a little for you and you can see it is certainly a decent bite or ???
What other fish do you have in that tank. It does not look like a piece taken out by sharp rock etc object in the tank but that does not mean it is not either.

I would treat it with Pimafix even though it is an anti fungal product it could easily turn into something like that and also Melafix to help reduce any stress on the fish. If you intend to buy and use those products please check the use by date as I have seen it 18+months out of date in one LFS

I have never kept Discus but a bite?? is still a problem.
I dont know if other discus do bite their own

Thanks Keith,
I do have an angel fish and gorami's ( spelling????)
and catfish.
They have been together for over 12 months but I wondered if the move made them edgy.

We have treated the tank with stress coat and have binox
The wound hasnt changed and the fish is happily eating.
I have passed on your information to my husband

and catfish

That catfish is not a Chinese Algae eater is it?

If so get rid of it reason as they get older and bigger they will take chunks out of fish.

Angel fish dont get a Siamese Algae eater either as they "Can" clean the slime off of them resulting in their death.
