My fish are dead, now what? | |
steven1982 Hobbyist Posts: 104 Kudos: 74 Votes: 38 Registered: 13-Jan-2008 | I have to fish that died in my quarantine tank. They died from Nitrites to high or "bacterial or parasite" as they did have a spot on them at one point (the spot did go away when they were alive). I would say Nitrites would most likely it. Anyway, I think that the Nitrites is alright now. When can I put more fish in there? Should I leave the water? |

Second Honestly If you have Nitrites then the tank is not cycled. Wait for it to cycle before adding in more fish as then you wont run into this problem. What type of test kit do you have? I have found that one the Liquids are a lot more accurate than the dip strips, and two the API is the best and I have tried several brands. mts.gif" border="0"> I vote do you? If I take the water out of my cycled 80 gallon and put it in the small 10 gallon quarantine tank will this make the tank cycled? |

You must have the good bacteria build up in the filter and the substrate. There are several products that are sold at the LFS to help with the Cycle process. I would steer clear of the cheapies as they are nothing but that buy a good quality cycling product. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. PM scott to ask him how he cycled his 10g tank... he got his done in a week i think and he did a really good job...(also put the filter media from the 80g tank into the filter on the new tank... \\\\\\\"an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of the cure\\\\\\\" |
