I need to treat my large tank with Furan-2. It is the only med I can use on my elephantnose and once again he is sick.

Question: I have 6 week old frys and 4 DAY old frys. Will this med hurt them? or is it safe enought to use even with them in the tank?

because, the rainbows (Adult)need the meds too. And I don't have a large enought tank. You did read about Mr. Rainbow jumping out of holding tank. He did a lot of damage to himself. So, why not all. Not many in the tank and I don't have another tank that is cycled. (see other thread) Things are not going well AT ALL!!!!

Each capsule of Furan-2 contains 60mg nitrofurazone, 25mg furazolidone and 2mg methylene blue trihydrate.

Furoic acid , also known as pyromucic acid is a commonly used preservative , but it is just that- acid. Its the acidity that kills the bacteria, so it will be harsh on ph sensitive fish. It kills a lot of invertabrates.
Methyl blue aint great for fry either, its a fairly harsh treatment, primarily for fungal infections. I guess its at your own risk type of stuff.

The furan 2 tablets also recommend a mere 2 day treatment, and that means they have to be very powerful.

Maybe the god of QT tanks comes in small tablets designed to increase aerobic bacteria in the filter? Worth a go.

When god hates you, you get kinda practical about it in the end ...

I dont suppose theres something like a piece of drip tray you can put on the qt to stop mr rainbow trying to commit carpet harikiri is there?

I had him in a bucket (with airstone and heater) with a LID sitting on it the second time he jumped out. the almost 3x, it was when I was peeking in and he jumped right at me, and of course is shocked me and I fell back steping on the telley and then again jumping because i though it was him. *hello anyone home? The fish didn't get out of the bucket the 3rd time. That is when I put a weight ontop of the lid because he kept banging at the top and he got himself good.

Its a bit unlucky to have hurt himself doing that, I often get the odd rainbow pinging itself off the tanklids, they never seem to hurt themselves noticeably.

He is the bully in the tank. It is the littler male that is allowing those eggs to hatch.
