Today another Angel stopped eating and went off by itself. I put both in a seperate tank and am treating with metroniadazole. On my main tank, I'm going to do a good vaccum and water change. In addition think it's a good idea to feed all the fish an anti-parasitic medicated food for a few days as a precaution? Will it hurt healthy fish? Thanks Barb

That is a personal choice if it is a problem in the tank it must be treated regardless of the problem. Ich is a very good example, here, many only treat the fish but forget the parasites that can/are still in the tank.

Personally I would treat the tank precaution is always the best medicine.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

Whats the tanks water temperature? It may be worth upping it to the early 80's f if it isnt around there already, it sometimes stimulates them to eat. Also what are you feeding them so far, sometimes a monotonous diet ends with them ceasing to feed. Any environmental factors that may be causing them to cease feeding ie: loud noise, vibration, lack of cover etc? You can try a little garlic added to the water, or even some plants like wysteria release scent into the water that sometimes stimulate the appetite of some fish. Live foods often trigger feeding, but can be a vector for parasites in the first place.

An antiparasitic formula like the jungle labs stuff should not hurt healthy fish, and is always worth a go in fish susceptible to protozoa, id give it a go.
