Utterly useless by themselves IME (most fish wormers are straight praziquantel) but this combo is really effective for internal parasites and doesn't seem to knock the fish silly. If you've tried one treatment already though, probably best not to muck about. I just found the maximum dose rate of metro at 6mg/L, and 55g = approx 200L. Its late and I haven't done this in a while, but I ended up at 1200mg. Can someone confirm this or give me the correct dose ASAP? ta ![]() |

I have read: 12mg/lt for 3 doses + 1% in food 1tsp per pound of food for 10 days 7mg/lt 3 doses Can anyone advise us on what the best way to go is? Some of the infected fish are still eating and some arent so i'm guessing medicated food and water would be needed? Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes. |

"Usual dose is 125mg/40L (10 US gallons)." DIRECTIONS: 100 to 200 mg for every 40L (10 US gallons). Repeat every 2 days until symptoms disappear. Turn off UV, ozone, and chemical filtration. (note that you can run your regular filter, and it does not adversely affect the filter bed) You can also treat fish flakes, to feed, blend 100mg with about 1 tablespoon of frozen food paste. There is a note to add garlic guard (so if you have regular garlic or have access to pure garlic extract/oil..) to enhance palatability. You can also treat an amount of fishfood with this, and then freeze the flakes for long periods of time. Use when needed. I can e-mail the discus breeder I purchased it from for more info if that will help. I just Metro is an effective treatment for several protozoan and anaerobic bacterial diseases of fish (Cryptocaron, Hexamita, Ichthyopthirius) Easily remove with carbon. I keep it around as an ick med since I have fish, inverts and snails in all my tanks these days. Salt or copper wouldn't work for me. Also keeping SA cichlids hexamita is a concern. Also platys and guppies which are known to be ick / fungus ![]() Good luck with your fish ! Da The Amazon Nut... |
