One of the fish has scales falling off, it seems to be in some distress. resulting in what looks like white patches ( i seen them, it don't look like ick) I should of taken My camera over there and took some pics. My buddy takes great care and does water changed every week. There is one 330 penguin, one 170 penguin filter. I don't know all the water parameters. Thanks for any help in advance. |

I have found it heals up in several days so I have never really worried about it. How long has it been in this condition? |

I would add some Melafix. Does he have a hospital tank to move him to? With 2 O's in a 55, I'd tell him to add another water change into the weekly schedule. IMO also maybe plan on adding a canister filter too. He only has 500 gal filtration & it should be minimum 550, being as O's are messy it wouldn't hurt. If price is an issue, tell him to keep an eye on the boards at the lps. I picked up a Magnum for $30. HTH |

Make a temporary separator out of a new piece of thin blue foam (cheap).. Make sure to punch alot of holes in it, and cut it so there it's an inch below the waters surface.. This will allow water current thru and over the separator. It's either that or pay about 18 bucks for one at the LFS. The Amazon Nut... |

We went and got them I could not believe what they were in, You could not even see the fish in the tank, That is how dirty it was. I let my buddy use my Extra 55 gallon tank. I understand how important it is to get them in a bigger tank. We are going to do this. He has been doing religous water chages to the tank. The Oscars are not fighting they never leave each others side. BTW the oscar is doing alot better. |
