Hey guys.

My betta, whom I've had for a couple of months now with no health problems, has stopped eating and moving except to take gasps of air. This morning I looked at him and I see fuzz at the end of all of his fins, which means fin rot

He is in a 2-gallon tank with an amazon swordplant. I have been changing approximately 1/3 of the water each week and up until the past week he has been healthy and happy as a clam, with the exception of him being extremely hungry when I needed to leave him at school for 5 days unfed during Thanksgiving, which he recovered from quickly and was back to his ordinary self soon after.

Anybody have suggestions on what it is and how to fix it? I think the fin rot came around because of his lack of movement, but I wonder what caused the loss of appetite and swimmingness.

Sometimes I feel like the tanks I have just like to spite me.

Is there a filter on the tank?

If not you should be changing 100% of the water at least every week...preferably twice.

Beyond that I'll need all the tank parameters that are listed in the "is your fish sick - read this" sticky at the top of the page.

You certainly will have to do a lot more about your water changes. Filtration type, how do you clean it and how often. You will have to supply us with all the water peramiters. If you can not do this take a good water sample to your LFS for testing.

To treat the Betta you coud try Pimafix and Melafix these meds can be used together at the recommended dosage. If you have and carbon in the filter remove it before any treatment starts.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info
