I've got one thats new to the tank well 2 days old, he has been hidin out a lot which was normal i thought for a first few days. The other one I bought with him is doin just fine swims all over! Today I came home and realized this one was sitting on the floor of tank still breathing and moving fins just a little but seemed he couldnt swim very much. I noticed the front part of his head is a kinda brownish color and not blue like the other. Also he has a big bloated spot right behind his right gill looks like a lil ball. I'm taking him bAK to the local fish store so he can get all the care he needs. what should i do to help keep my others healthy after this? They are doin fine but jus to be sure?

What variety of gourami is it? Some gourami are very sensitive to any change. It also could have been a bad batch from the LFS as well.

Did you add any Melafix to the tank when they were put in?

What else is in the tank?

Finally what are your water peramiters?

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

Horribly enough that sounds like a trematode or protozoan infection, I might go with a general antiparasitic treatment for that tank, and I would definately get him out of there before that cyst bursts, if it is a reproductive cyst for a trematode species, when it bursts the tank will become infected by hundreds if not thousands of new parasites. Something like sterazin or a reasonable substitute should do the job.

Post a pic of the fish if you want to be a bit more sure of an accurate diagnosis.
