Weird Spinal Deformity Thing. | |
sora Enthusiast Posts: 184 Kudos: 96 Votes: 134 Registered: 28-Feb-2007 | well i was at an LFS today. and i was checking out the glass catfish. when i noticed one that didnt look right out of the corner of my eye. i turned and looked and saw that it was so bent that the fish was literally shaped like a U it looked stuck that way. it was swimming but not much. any idea what caused this? genetic? accident while shipping? im just curious. The true test of character is not how much we know how to do, but how we behave when we dont know what to do. |

Two Tanks Big Fish Posts: 449 Kudos: 328 Votes: 13 Registered: 02-Jun-2003 | It could have been genetic or due to lack of proper diet when young. Fish tuberculosis can also cause deformities of the spine (a fatal disease that is very contagious). I would avoid buying any fish from that tank. |

It could also be caused by too much inbreeding and certainly a genetic problem. If a fish is like that not much you can do sorry.
