Okay, in the past 3 days I've had 5 unexplained fish deaths. I don't know why. The tank is around 78 degrees, the nitrates, nitrites and ammonia are all 0. My Ph is at 8, which it is in all of my tanks.

Yesterday I found my silver molly(who had been whirling around the night before) and a guppy dead. Today I found 3 female bettas. I dunno what happened to them, but the bettas were all smelling half decayed(and fine yesterday) and looked like someone had split their stomachs open. And their slime coats were peeling off in huge layers( )

The tank's inhabitants(currently) are 4 white clouds(the newest fish, they were qt'd for 3 weeks before being introduced) 4 harlequin rasboras, 12 neons, around 12 random adult livebearers(4 mollies, 1 molly/platy, 1 sword and the rest are guppies) 2 female bettas, 12 cories, 5 khulies and a clown pleco. Plus a few apple snails and a lot of pond, ramshorn and pond snails. And a half a million baby livebearers that are swimming around somewhere in the floating stuff up top.

I also saw a cory tonight that looked like he had a fungus/flesh eating bacteria on his face. . . His nose was white and looked like the flesh had just eroded off of it(the others were fine, and I have a sand substrate)

What other info would you need to see if you can figure out what is wrong?

Edit: ALL fish have been acting normal, even the maimed cory. The only unusual thing was that a couple mornings ago about half of them were gasping near the top, but within an hour of the lights being on they were fine again. They've got no co2 or ferts, though it is a planted tank. It is a standard 60 gallon tank with a rena xp3 on it, that has got 4 sponges(washed with water only a few days ago) a piece filled with bio rings and those little hard sponges and a container filled with floss. Last water change was 25% a week ago with tap water, untreated as always. Same thing went into my 20 gallon with no ill fish in it. Topped off same as the other tank with no fish loss.

I know it sounds silly but if you did the same thing to all your tanks and this is happening to one tank only I would have a very cose look at the tank to see if any thing has entered the tank.

Are all the tanks in the same area? The reason for asking this if a spray has been used in the area this will do a lot of damage. Another thing to look at is if there is any insect killer in the area even some of those blocks that can be used to repell insects. If any insect/s has been incontact with something like that and it has fell into the tank and died you now have a very strong poison in the tank. I have seen what an ant trail can do after the trail was treated. It happened in a LFS lots of dead fish.
Also check if any thing is unusual in the tank copper etc.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

I didn't see anything out of the ordinary, and I don't let my roomies use poisons. It could have come from another apartment though. I've got 2 tanks with bettas in the same room and they were both fine, so I guess I'll do a big water change tomorrow afternoon and see what happens.

If you are seeing a fungal or bacterial infection, I would remove the carbon if any in the tank and start dosing with melafix and primafix. This treatment will kill any bacteria in the tank but will also protect the weakened fish from any bacterial or fungal infections also. Another point could be that if you washed your filter pads in regular water rather than the tank water, you could have killed the bacterial colony in that filter and you could be going through a mini cycle. I also know that you should have some NitrATEs in your tank.

Thanks for your input as always, Shane
