I have a red turquoise discus, it has white slime all over its body, it's like its membrane is torn off. what's this disease? I've tried baktopur, ectopur, costapur and oodinopur. help!!!

Oftentimes discus will slime themselves. Essentially the glands that produce their slime coat become overactive. A change in conditions probably triggered excessive mucus production and stress. The situation favors parasite proliferation either protozoan or bacterial. As the discus are continiously under attack, it will fall further into total immune-breakdown and finally it will begin a new round of endoparasite infestation and infection.

Please take the following steps:

1) Back track what you have done or could have done that has affected your fish. Temperature, tank conditions such as nitrates or nitrites, cross-contamination...
2) Make water-change immediately whether you like it or not
3) Add water conditioner.
4) Raise the tank temperature to 86-88F,
5) If no improvement after 12 hours, do a PP treatment
6) make water change again and do the second PP treatment
7) If no improvement, add antibiotics......short (3 hours) and long bath (12 days)
