chelaine  Big Fish Posts: 383 Kudos: 343 Votes: 78 Registered: 23-Jul-2005   | My male betta has been losing alot of color lately and i've noticed his abdomen area is really swollen like he's eaten too much. I could be feeding him to much, but i think he's on the outs, his color is bad and he barely comes up for air. any suggestions? Chelle *Chelle* I love the fishes cuz they're SOOO delicious... |

Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate test results? Frequency of water changes and amount of water changed? What are you feeding the fish? Any tank mates? How long have you had the betta? Any filtration and if so what? We can treat the symptoms but without finding out what the cause is then the problems will reoccur. Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes. |

| chelaine Big Fish Posts: 383 Kudos: 343 Votes: 78 Registered: 23-Jul-2005 | fish is alone in a 30 gallon fish tank, its been a while since i've changed the water, about three months.. um, there's mid-high nitrate levels, and only other thing on the test strips is hard water, but all our tanks have hard water. um.. his tank is just filled with alot of live plants, thats it. *Chelle* I love the fishes cuz they're SOOO delicious... |

| chelaine Big Fish Posts: 383 Kudos: 343 Votes: 78 Registered: 23-Jul-2005 | i just read up on dropsy, sounds and looks almost like it.. his scales are poking out, and he's got a pinkish color to his belly which used to be blue. i feed him betta pellet food by aqua culture twice a day, just 4 pellets total. ammonia levels are normal. filtration is a standard 30 gallon filter i've put him in a small glass vase where at least he can get to the top to breathe, but he's not looking so hot. ::::EDIT:::: he died this morning  Last edited by chelaine at 10-Aug-2005 03:38 *Chelle* I love the fishes cuz they're SOOO delicious... |
