Too much of the same food, lack of essential vitamins and minerals. Poor water quality might also be a cause but I would rather go with the diet. Have a look in [link=My Profile]http:// www.fishprofiles.com/interactive/forums/profile.asp?userid=6741" style="COLOR: #00FF00[/link] for my tank info [link=Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tanks]http://photobucket.com/albums/b209/keithgh/Betta%20desktop%20tank/" style="COLOR: #00FF00[/link] Keith ![]() ![]() Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. Too much dry foods is also a cause. Since many fish get simply one type of food (flake or pellet) which is often dry and may be combined with a treat food of worms (heavy protein) fish that need more of a omnivore diet end up constipated. No wonder the pea treatment usually works ![]() ![]() ^_^ ![]() ![]() |

I find the rainbows enjoy this a lot, and it gets em all cleaned out. I think really that a combination of a high protein and carb diet as staple flakes usually are, coupled with the particular types of intestinal setups certain fish have, often ends in constipation. Feeding a veggie flake like HBH 8 Veggie Flake a few times a week can help with this problem. Come Play Yahtzee With Me! http://games.atari.com Http://www.myleague.com/yahtgames |
