There have been many memorable events in 2004.

It was a mars-probing, swift-boating, fire-fighting, Iraqi-training, freedom-fighting, president-reelecting, against bush-rocking, marrage-defining, heck of a year.

Bring on 2005!

Yup, the big FP upgrade, what a job for Adam to undertake and he did a great job ! Worley also did well in helping us out during the change..

Bad news - My girl left in November (religious differences and constant family interference) and we were together for 3 years. It hit me very hard, but some friends, family, co-workers and some fp members really showed support for me. This helped me get thru the worst part. It's almost 2 months now and I'm doing alot better but need more time to heal. I'll be moving soon to a smaller place and will prob have to sell my 90 gal corner tank which some of you know is my mixed cichlid tank featuring my tiger oscar 'Satchi' that my brother gave to me. That sucks..

Good news - my boss who had it in for me for 3 years just said she's noticed improvement in all areas of my work and that I'm doing well and has no problems.. The first positive comment I've heard from her in 3 years.. At least now I can stop worrying about getting fired. (for now)

To those who care: Sorry I haven't been around much lately, and thanks to all the members who helped me with the fish and plant advice, I learned alot this year, about aquaria and otherwise. I'm more than happy to kiss 2004 goodbye with hopes that 2005 will bring new promise and adventure to all here at FP.

May your hearts be happy and your fish healthy.
Until next time.
Peace,
DaFish

Well, Since I had so much trouble with things around me this year, I didn't really pay attention to the outside world. But here are my happenings of the year:

*Billy introduced me to Fish Profiles and I joined a few days before my birthday in February.

*Billy drove from Lubbock, Texas to Farminton, NM so I wouldn't miss out on my prom.

*Missed graduation, took summer school, and graduated in July.

*Moved in with two (supposed) friends and signed a 6 month lease.

*Psycho ex-friend bashes in my window and threatens to kill me.

*Little sisters first boyfriend ever died in a tragic and freak incident(a week after they broke up)

*Obtained two ADF's, and 6 male Bettas (Elbryan, Jarryn, Boner, Duzzel, Ryu, and Raidon) and 2 females, Squishy (My first female to EVER own) and Kira.

*Had my first surgery ever, an emergency appendectomy (they removed my appendix that was about to burst)

*Kicked out rommates.

*Found out my Mom is really sick, and needs Surgery she can only have done in Cleveland.

*Got a new car. Wrecked it three weeks later. But $500 later, it's back and running again.

*Got second job at Hastings.

I think that's about all for my year. been a rough one for me. But I'm still here, and things will be ok. ^_^

By far the biggest event of my year was my FishProfiles World Tour of the USA and Canada. Well it was mostly the USA with a little excursion north of the border to Calgary... I'd never been to the US before (at least not deliberately ) so it was a very exciting adventure.

I shut down my business and left home on June 21, flew to LA, then on to Chicago. Picked up a 30-day rail pass and went to Milwaukee where I spent a wonderful and exciting time with moondog and mrs moondog and their collection of animals (RIP Tramp ).

Hopped back on the train and headed to Washington DC where the great and venerated Babelfish picked me up from the backpackers' hostel and took me home to live on her couch! Babelfish and I went to the Baltimore aquarium where we met up with Theresa_M, JW and company, and I narrowly missed out on meeting Shannen aka dot, booger, blob... whatever .

Babelfish almost jumped out of her skin with excitement when the dealer called to say her new Prius was ready to pick up! Then we drove it all the way to Timmy's place! I met his Mom, his fishies and gerbils and all the pets in his pet shop. Some of them tried to eat me but that was ok.

Then I went on to Boston, Cape Cod, and back to Chicago. Flew to Calgary to see my Bro and his Wifey, borrowed a vehicle from them and drove to Texas. Oh my goodness what a journey. I stayed in truck stops along the way and had all kinds of adventures. Eventually I got to Lubbock and stayed with Billy and we drove on to Dallas where I met his very hospitable Folks and had more adventures.

I drove back to Calgary, helped Bro do all kinds of fun stuff (mostly involving a crow bar and a sledge hammer) then flew back to New Zealand in early September.

In October I attended my Grandma's 100th birthday and my Bro and his Wifey welcomed twin daughters into the world (hello Olive Moana and Jasper Lynn )

Now I'm in the process of setting up a new business with a wonderful business partner. 2005 looks just as wonderful as 2004! Roll on the new year!

Well if nothing else this is the year i got introduced to this hobby ...and went totally overboard now hooked (no pun intended) for life it would seem.

Another year with still no children on the way - working on it Both sets of parents giving us hell.

2 years married , still madly in love

Worked too hard. Nothing new there.

Another year with no spring or autumn.

Made some new friends on this site. Discovered a guy called Gary Roland has an even drier sense of humor then I do.

Won something for the first time in my life - Aquascaping Contest , YAY !
The year I got teased un mercifully about an unfortunate choice of wedding outfits (loved every minute of it)

Unfortunately the year coming to a crappy end in this part of the world.

All the best for everyone in 2005 !!!Hopefully it will be the year the pom poms are finally forgotten about.

gona keep it FP related.

i joined FP just over a yr ago (dec 3rd i think )so basicly 2004 was my entire stay here so far. as far as fish go alot has changed. i went from a empty 10g to a full 10g/29g/75g. my 75g has been an oscar tak, a mbuna tank, and now a SA tank. ive had my 1st mail shipped critter sent to me. a bag of trumpet snails from Fallout. he also refused payment from me when im really nothing more then a name in a chat room. these have taken over all my tanks includeing a water plants vase hehhe. ive learned so much info and met so many people here more then happy to help anyone out. all walks of life wonder this site. its hard to imagin 99% of us get along just because of one common interest. Adam is the man to thank for that.

ive met people from every extreme of the hobby. Callatya who pack rats as many bettas as she can fit in the house, acidrain that hordes as many tanks that will possibly fit in a warehouse. Koi keeper that decided the house just wasnt big enough so turned the yard into a giant pond. Then there is John Stone who does all this with a couple tanks by switching the occupents on a monthly basis lol. theres no telling what you will find here.

anyway thank you FP and members for a great 2004 and i look forward to what you have instore for 2005.
Happy New Years All!

2004 has been a year to remember for me. I got my first REAL job working for an aquarium store. I set up tanks and took down others, moved multiple times (both between houses and rooms in a house). I joined the University of Cincinnati paintball team along with getting a new paintball gun . Oh yeah, I started college too...

However, 2004 isn't a year of pure rejoice. With many losses throughout the world, none have affected me as much as my grandfathers. Having to watch someone you love so much fall to such a horrible fait drains so much out of your life. He was the first person close to me that has passed away. This threw me into a hard depression which I fought SO hard.I love you, grandpapi. You will never be forgotten. God bless your soul. Te quiero, grandpapi. Usted nunca será olvidado. El dios bendice su alma.

All I can say is bring on 2005.

2004 has been a great year for me.
All the great/and funny memories from school and my footy team i'll never forget. At least not for a long time.

Like the time where the teacher gave me a stage4 for giving some person a wegie around a pole. (don't ask why)
Or the time where my footy team went up to Sydney and stayed in the Balmain PCYC and we broke into all the upstairs rooms and smashed a window or two. And now our team is banned from the Balmain PCYC
Another great moment was when my team got in an all out brawl with another team after the match Alot of people got hurt

But I can't realise how fast 2004 has gone. I've now finished high school and am now going to college next year. *that means i'm gonna actually have to study hard*

Also I can't forget, 2004 was the year I found Fish Profiles which has been great. I've learnt plenty of info and made plenty of friends.

2004 - Big year!

4 years at FP now feeling like I should be in a comfy chair with a blanket over my knees, maybe smoking a pipe or something and saying 'Back in the old days of FP...'

had two big tank disasters - one when half my stock died in the heatwave back in february, the other when I moved a couple of months ago and cracked the bottom of my 120 gallon...

And I made FP magazine, and at the same time finished my Honours degree and ended a 5-year stint at uni!

Did some minor domestic travelling (Melbourne in April, Newcastle in October and again in November - business trip but lots of fun too!)

Probably the biggest thing - bought my first home

Made some great new friends, some of whom I have now handed my baby over to - the magazine I have edited for the past two years and have now moved on from .

Started a media company with a collective of very like-minded and fantastic people, now working solidly towards our first launch...

Have also started my first real, full-time job! and it's in the industry I want to be in, although maybe not the exact job I want.

And have made it to the 4-year mark with my wonderful boyfriend - soon to hit 5 years in april!

Personally, a good year. Not such a good year for the world .

The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. - Oscar Wilde

Littlecatjoe here, checking in...

Thanks for mentioning me Ferret, it's nice to be missed

Basically, 2004 was a year to be forgotten for me.

Things started going downhill right after I discovered I was pregnant for the second time in the last month of 2003. Not that the pregnancy itself was a bad thing, but it sort of took over my life in a way that I never saw coming...

We moved house in mid- January, and it was a disaster. I lost a couple fish that were my favourites and battled resulting water problems for months before things settled down again. Along with a lack of energy and a wonderfully general nauseous feeling most of the time, the problems with my tanks and fish put me right off of the hobby.

Things kept going from bad to worse. I had trouble with depression, old anxieties, and my blood pressure readings kept my doctor scratching her head. I didn't want to take care of myself let alone any stupid fish tanks that only killed off the very things they were supposed to keep alive. I was supposed to stay away from stress and avoid hard activities as much as possible. I quit being a moderator here and rather quickly decided to stop visiting the site altogether for reasons that now seem stupid. I stopped going out of the house, quit talking to many of my friends, and went back to many old behaviours that didn't help at all....

At the end of my pregnancy I was going to the doctor every second day to have my blood pressure checked and I don't think I had the energy to do anything else. Finally the baby came (by emergency C-section of course ) and I had some other things to deal with. Can you say postpartum depression?? The before stuff I had to deal with was nothing on the after stuff!! Somehow though, I finally feel like myself after what seems like forever. Of course, it's taken a whole year of my life to get back, but I got through it...

*deep breath*

Good things happened too of course:
The baby was actually born and is doing fantastic!!
My oldest daughter made great friends after the move (before that she had me and only me 99% of the time ), she also started Primary in September and still loves it!!
For some unknown reason he stuck with me through it all and Hubby and I celebrated 15 years together.
After all was said and done, my close friends and family all made it through the year with our health and spirits intact.

And I think that's about it.
I'd like to be around more now that I don't have as much baggage dragging behind me, but I have to wait to have my computer find it's way upstairs so I can actually get to use it now and again..

Happy New Year everyone!
Lisa

My fish year saw some changes. I went from having a 180g, 120g, 55g and a 20g to just a 55g.
The frontosas that I'd had for 3 years moved on to a new home. I still miss them and wish I hadnt given them up.
My 120g cracked. My lfs babysat my discus and other fish. None of the discus survived their lfs stay. Got the tank repaired but have not filled it up again.
Started playing around with a planted tank. So far so good! I found some endlers livebearers which are happily growing in my planted community.

On a personal level, I've watched my son grow from a baby into a independant busy toddler. This is the reason I reduced the tanks, I couldnt keep up with it all! Between the swimming lessons, and music groups and play group there isnt much time or energy left.

Adrian got himself into a great new job, no more mechanic work which is good because he was struggling with it due to health issues. After 4 months at he job he's been given a promotion. I'm very proud of him.

A couple of downs to my year, 2 friends decided to end their lives and the passing of my brother. Still dont know brothers cause of death and its been 6 weeks or so now. He had a whole set of problems which I think probably attributed to what happened. Its been terrible watching my parents try and cope. My dad has gone part time at work because his job is too important to have someone who isnt fully at attention.

Happy 2005 to all. Live life to the fullest guys and gals!
