PG-13? That's terrible. One of the mainstays of both series has been gratuitous violence.

That being said, I will probably go see it, but I can assure you that it will never top Aliens, one of the greatest movies of all time.

It's all marketing.

They likely cut content to get the PG-13 rating in order to broaden their potential market. To the movie execs, it's more difficult to sell an R-rated movie of this type over a PG-13. By doing this they'll be able to effectively tap the under-17 kiddies.

It's all about $$$ with something like this. Honestly I don't we get anything on the level of the original Predator, or the first couple Alien movies. It's like Freddy vs. Jason... they're trying to milk the franchises for all their worth.

Well, of course it is all marketing. That's the entire reason for even producing the Alien vs. Predator games in the first place, or, heck, even Aliens, which was made about 10 years after the first one. And they are marketing it effectively, because I'm still going to go see it.

Right... the marketing scheme is inherently obvious, especially since the whole point for making any movie these days is to make copious amounts of money, aside from some of the indie films. What I should have been more clear about was that sacrificing content to pack the seats with teeny boppers is lame, but predictable.

I dunno... The MPAA is anything but consistent these days with their ratings - i.e. giving the Matrix trilogy an R-rating and LOTR a PG-13? Aside from the one sex scene in Revolutions, I don't think the violence or adult content was much worse in the Matrix than LOTR. Either that or I've become completely desensitized to any and all content that might be deemed inappropriate. But I digress...

I'll probably play the wait-and-see-what-people-say with this. If it comes back mostly favorable with the cult fans, I might go see it. I don't have a lot of time to see movies in the theater though, so it might have to be a renter.

Well, I saw it last night, and it was exactly as I suspected: Entertaining and extremely shallow.

If this sounds like your kind of movie, I recommend you go see it. There are far worse ways to spend an hour and 45 minutes.

One thing it did excel in, however, was the use of sound. The Surround Sound and bass they had going was quite impressive. You could just tell that if the directors had this back in the day when the old movies came out, they would have used it the exact same way.

There's a lot of Alien and Predator blood and guts and gore, but as far as humans go, it isn't too bad.

I am a big fan of Alien, Aliens, Alien3, Alien Resurection and Aliens vs. Jerry Springer and am looking forward to vs. Predator. As far as the ratings are concerned they need to entertain a wide range of people, so in the theaters gore is out, but (hopefully on the extended DVD) its all about gore.
Getting out side the gore, Alien and Aliens produced some great actors,actresses.....
I mean could you realy see John Wayne playing Bill Paxton as Hudson and saying....Game over man, F***ing game over.....
Or Marlon Brando in Don Corlion voice saying....Get away from her you B**ch.....(sorry about the spelling on some of the names)........
Hopefully once again on the extended or directors verson we will see alot more.....

My friends and I already decided that the next one should be Alien vs Predator vs Police Academy, because, honestly, the world needs more Steve Gutenberg movies.
