I think that give a large enough and broad enough sample, the data would be of interest to anyone in the retail/manufacturing end of the hobby.

The point... umm... the same point that any survey has... to collect intresting data... Plus it's something for me to do...

I have taken a survey before on fish, and it had a TON of questions.

A tip: Make it VERY vague, and easy to read - the questions short.

I would take this survey, and heck, i can help u with the site too (if u need it)

I'd like to ask them what their first fish was and approximately what size tank/bowl they kept it in.

Of course I'd like to know their gender, age and what country they come from, for comparison of the data collected. I suspect it will be heavily skewed towards young Americans simply because of the medium you're using to ask the questions.

I'd also like to know (in no particular order)
- how big their current tank/s is/are
- do they keep cold or tropical, fresh water or marine
- what test kits they have
- how often they do a water change (honestly)
- does their tank have live plants

And one more thing: I'd like to know what they think is the minimum size tank/bowl a gold fish can happily live in, in the long term. I'd like to stress that this isn't a question about what they think they should say, but about what they really genuinely believe. I'm just curious. It's not often you get the chance for an anonymous survey.

Well... I have nothing to do, so I figured I'd start a fun little project to help pass the time and collect some interesting information about fish and the people who keep them...

My idea is to have an in depth survey about... you guessed it... fish! It would be a website that anyone could goto and answer a bunch of questions about their aquariums and at the end I would compile all the data and make a website with the results. Of course it would be TOTALLY anonymous, the only data collected would be general stuff like gender and age group and possibly ip addresses to keep people from taking the survey multiple times.

I figure it could have 50-100 questions and I'd try to keep the time needed to take the survey under 15minutes.

I'd like some opinions on if this sounds like a good idea or not and possible questions to be put on the survey.
