I was going to add this to the bottom of another post, but decided that it pretty much deserved it's own post. The post that I began it in is [link=Snow!!!]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/The%20Recovery%20Room/53328.html?9443527E-02" style="COLOR: #C0FFC0[/link]

I began it after reading Babel's post
never mind the ones that were stuck in accidents or blocking my way into the office causing me to almost get into an accident stupid people cant drive with an inch of just powder...no ice...just snow.

And speaking of not knowing how to drive in this stuff, if we even get an inch, it's a snow day, and most roads are shut down here.:%) And you are talking about fools driving, I take pictures as I drive But, the wrecks here have been causing so many other wrecks Houston/Harris Country has now invoked an 8 minute law. If you do not have your car moved off the road (not just off the driving road, but also the break down laneas in gas station off the road) within 8 minutes a tow truck will be there (city/county has developed their own) they will tow your vehicle to the nearest storage where you will have to get it for a hefty price $75 for the tow, and like $50 or $100/day for storage, automatic one day storage for towing. Even if you are changing a flat on the side of the road...now tell me if this isn't bad...

We know driving in big cities is only getting worse, how is you city? How is your area dealing with it? Ok here is the place to rant about the rush hour, or as in some cases here rush 3-4 hours...go for it....

your problem is that nobody knows how to drive properly in texas well, everywhere in texas but san antonio, they seem to be pretty good drivers there

here in wisconsin people are mostly considerate drivers. plus most of our towns/cities are built on a grid pattern, so that means less time on the freeway cause you can take side streets anywhere you need to go. that definitely helps since the main interchange downtown will be under construction for the next 5-6 years ]:|

Drivers in Texas: I can't speak for the state, certainly, and I'm sure it's largely populated by good drivers, but there's a beloved family anecdote about a Texan friend of my mother's who borrowed her car, many years ago, and allowed it to overheat. When it conked out she got - er - frustrated, stepped out, and shot the car repeatedly.

Rochester drivers definitely know how to deal with snow. But they still get a little funny - they just make slight errors, presumably (at least this is the reason for my small winter errors) from the stress of driving in the snow. Certainly we're not a city of people who think a foot, much less an inch, is a major event, but bad conditions affect everyone.

This is Calgary, Alberta....winter here lasts nearly 6 months and schools don't close unless we get 20"+ of snow AND -35ºC temps.....we speed along on streets that would be death to most North Americans at ½ the speed.

I can't even imagine driving in those conditions. I am in Sydney Australia. It doesn't snow here so I have no experience of such weather at all let alone driving in said same.

I think you are all amazing. Stay safe on the roads and outta the way of the tow trucks (fingeers crossed you will never need 'em, ie all flat tyre/batteries discovered in your driveway where you can wait inside warm and safe for assistance)

At the moment it is Tourist H**L
I am situated in a costal village and 75Klm from the main buisness district and therefore most of the heavy trafic except during the holiday period. It is usualy hot and many of the tempers are the same.
Most of these drivers are not used to driving in country areas where most of the driving is more relaxed and non aggressive like the large cities.
It is sad to say some just want to take over as if is their given right to be here rather than a privlidge and willing to share the roads with all the others.

Finally, again most seem to leave their manners behind well that is if they have any at all. We have very strict speed limits but they must have left their glasses home or all their speedos are wrong.

Only a few weeks left before they go back from whence they all came, then they are all back again at easter.

mmm yeah. I do most my driving in the DC metro area, 2nd worst place to drive in the nation... it's real interesting every time I go out. I just wonder how many times I will "almost get killed today".

The US really needs to make the driving tests and the written test harder. Any idiot and their son can get a drivers license as it is. And police need to enforce things like not using your blinker, or when you merge improperly, not worry so much about a stupid head light that's out.

I did however grow up in Maine, driving is a lot different up there. Most people go slow, we actually have a speed MINIMUM on our interstate, because some people drive so slow...
Though you know, they have their jerk off teenage/20 year old drivers too. Up there, it has to be like white out conditions and then some, before they will close anything.
But in DC, as soon as you see one flake of snow, or HEAR about getting snow, you have 80% of the population rushing to the store all at once to buy their rations. *sigh*
