The catfish knows no better and is just looking for some food. I think it is really sad that they have tried to kill the catfish as they are probably killing more than the one catfish and it didnt do anything it wouldnt have done if the people wasnt there. It just happens that someone witnessed it, if nobody saw it then nobody would have taken any notice that the dog disappeared
