Used to.

I currently have a top retainer because I broke my permant one. Should be done with this one in a couple more weeks.

I got them on my senior year of H.S., got them off around the time I turned 21.

AggieMarine - I had maxillofacial surgery. The surgeon was trying a "new" procedure on my and basically I didn't have to be put under. The bad news is I opened my eyes at a really bad time. Right as this nice Dremel-type grinding tool was headed for my mouth. I was like 12 at the time. Clamped my eyes shut for the rest of the procedure.

Hehe. Okay, well I never really had braces. But I did have a pallet expander (my parents don't know why they wanted to make my mouth bigger than it already is ) and a lip bumper...so I've felt the pain. Luckily, I had a wonderful orthodontist, who I actually looked forward to going to. He had interesting policies. He treats all his patients within two years, and doesn't believe in retainers. I started sometime in 4th grade, and finished sometime in 6th. And my teeth haven't moved back since.

Nope, sorry - but my younger sister and a number of older siblings wore them, my mother, and various other friends and relations. I had to listen to them complain on and on and on and on and on - I think that should count as having felt the pain of braces!

I can not remember when I stopped wearing them possibly when I got my first pair of long pants close to 60 years ago.

Hmmm yes... the removeable braces with the headgear at night (ghastly looking apparatus that I was very lucky not to have to wear during the day - red, yellow, and blue colored thing was the only one my orthodontist had that would fit my head!) That I had to tighten and clean and gave me a really bad lisp.

Then there was the regular braces. They were ok except going in to tighten them. Even then it's bearable if you take a painkiller about an hour before going in. Pain in the teeth id the worst thing because there's not much you can do about it...

Then I had to wear a retainer every night for a while. But after that I only wear the retainer now occasionally when my teeth start hurting (every couple months, when they start trying to move back).

Never done so....I am fortunate in genetics, and my teeth are perfectly aligned naturally.
