But it isnt unheard of, eatting nile perches, large mouth basses, etc. i have two large mouths and i have had some to eat, i wouldnt eat any of my "babies" but i have had some before. i have also seen nile perches for sale, and when i get my newest 525 gallon i would like to buy one as a pet for awhile. something about having the 2 or 3rd largest FW fish, means something to me. |

I personally loved watching them from above the surface, and when I started diving they were very fun to watch. It was them or another fish that made these amazingly round nests for their fry. While snorkeling here adams pointed out many a fish that he likes to catch (he doesnt eat fish but I do sometimes...not if I've met it though ). I'm sure a lot of the fish you find in the average SW tank are eaten by people around here. ^_^ |

Fish tanks are an expensive addiction |

Ironhand74 Hobbyist Posts: 95 Kudos: 69 Votes: 295 Registered: 11-Aug-2007 | guess I didn't mention in that detail, thats what I've eaten, that I have *seen in aquaria, but eating what I've kept... no way hoser, all the declorinators and other additives some ppl use for water treatment never mind the meds for diseases, parasites and whatnot....not for human consumption now catching fish, salmon in the *best ! |

keithgh *Ultimate Fish Guru* Posts: 6371 Kudos: 6918 Votes: 1542 Registered: 26-Apr-2003 | I think you will find that most fish kept in Aquariums either at home or huge commercial displays are eaten by some one in one way or another. I have seen many marine fish I have caught and released also eaten. Fresh water trout, crays, and yabbies, mussels, just to name a few. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. One thing I probably wouldn't be able to eat is a pleco. That'd just be too weird. But in their natural habitat they're considered good eating. Cories, too, cooked in their "shell". -------------------------------------------- The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. |
