Logic..Hmm...Logic....

Most parents are good at "reverse psychology" I know I am.... I make the child believe his logic is working and I get what I want him to do/not to do in the end...hahahaaaaaa.... BettaChris, you have a lot to learn Grasshoppa!

AngelAddict... if it is something that you really want, show your parents that you are responsible enough to totally take care of the tank you have now. Save up your money and your parents will probably let you get another tank if it is something that they do not have to be bothered with... Like Frank said above...if my son asks for a puppy, I know what adverse affects that it will have on me because I will be the one who will end up taking care of it in the end. If you prove your responsibility first, things may end up going your way...GOOD LUCK!

*sigh*

Bettachris, If you are under their roof they can do damn well what they please with you and your tank.

If my son ever went against my word and bought something I told him he could not have. You can be sure it would be tossed in the trash.

This is NOT how to gain your parents respect!

Not to mention it would be a very long time before he saw the light of day...

Edit:
i use logic to out smart my parents

Obviously logic has outsmarted you and your parents Chris.

Impress her. Next time it's time for another bottle say "no mom I got it." I guarantee it will stop her in her tracks.

Hi,
As a parent, one of the things we want to teach our children
is responsibility. Part of that process can be in the
form of having a pet.
Virtually every parent knows that even though the pet
"belongs" to the child, eventually they will have to care
for it. So, along with the permission must come the
fact that the pet is something that the parent is
comfortable taking care of.
Usually they had a similiar pet when they were growing
up and knew something about its upkeep.

Aquariums are normally the focal point of visiting guests,
be it in your bedroom, or out in the living room. An algae
filled, foul smelling, or garrishly looking tank, is not
something I would want in my home for all to see.

The easiest way to have more, or a larger tank, is to
have a successful, good looking tank, that is a pleasing
addition to the room in which it is housed. Get them
involved in the tank. Not its upkeep, but the choice of
fish, or ask for input on what it should look like. Show
them that another or larger tank would be a good looking
piece of nature in the home.
Lastly, don't make it a drain on already strained finances.
Use your money to fund it.

Frank
PS the desire for several tanks, or larger tanks or several
larger tanks is perfectly normal. As an anaology look at
stamp collecting. When we start out as stamp collectors
we try to get stamps from every country. Soon we realize
that it is an impossible task, and we begin to specialize.
Some collect only airmail, others collect only flower or
animal stamps. Others collect only mint stamps beginning
with a specific year (usually the year of birth) and so on.
It is the same with fish. Nearly all start out with a
community tank, and then branch off to speciality tanks,
either plants, biotope, breeding, whatever. Some keep just
one tank and tear it apart every few years to do something
different.

Personally, I want just two tanks.... Two 240G tanks.
One that is a lush planted jungle, and the other for
African Rifts. No, on second thought make that three,
one for Salt Water... Hummm maybe four tanks, one for
salt water and the fourth as a Salt Water Reef tank...

I think I need a bigger house!!!

MTS is bad, but wait until you contract LTS (large tank syndrome) or the dreaded MLTS (multiple LTS). My wife says I can have another big tank if she can have a puppy. Thats not fair! We already have 5 dogs, but I only have one bid tank. Ok, I have 2 ponds, but they don't count because they are outside!

I really want a 25 gallon convict tank but my mom says that one tanks is enough. Ya Right! There are soooo many types of fish out there and I want them all. Or at least convicts. Anyone else have this problem?

You can always get a new tank and tell your parents that your tanks "grew and had babies"

If you think that having your mom tell you you have enough is frustrating, try being almost 30 and having your spouse tell you you have enough! THAT is frustrating! I can not tell you how many fish arguments have occurred in this house! LOL! I have decided that once we move, I have to have my own room for fish (so he does not "feel like I am living in a pet store"! First two things being added to my collection will be an indoor pond so I can FINALLY have a couple of fancy goldies, and a drip system for my bettas!

Yeah, I want to upgrade but keep getting told no, that tank is big enough. I will upgrade though, if not will definatley take back the fish when they get too big rather than see them sufer.

MTS...

Multiple Tank Syndrome

It's deadly.

My parents laid down the law too...they said one tank was enough.

Somehow I managed to get around that...

Up to 4 currently.

At least 40 gallons would be nice. They grow to seven inches or so, I believe.

Lol That will never happen. How big of a tank do you need for a pair of convicts?

To be honest, 25 gallons isn't enough for a convict, though.

And yes, I have this problem. I've got only one tank, though I have access to all kinds of neat fish. It is fun to plan what you want to do next, though. Maybe you can convince your mom to see things your way.
