I would not say I am an expert on plants in & outdoor. Most deaths of plants is caused by water in short too much.
Also in the wrong location too hot or too cold.
There is no such thing as an indoor plant they are plants that humans decided we will grow indoors.

It is impossible to answer your question without knowing what plant is. Locate a nursery in your are ant take it to them, if it is too big take a leaf or a photo.

Sorry that is the best I can do.

I agree!!!!! People see the leave go yellow and give more water... yellow leaves can be a sign of too much water! (not saying this is the case here)

To get peace/madonna lillies to flower when kept as an indoor plant* let them dry out between waterings.

* kept as an indoor plant, because as Keith said there is no such thing as 'an indoor plant' only ones we have brought indoors.

I would take a picture but i am affraid that the plant has wilted so much that its hard to say what it is.

It was a while back when it started to die I thought it was because my boyfriend watered it, I'm sure he put to much in.

That was like I said a while ago, at least 5 months now and its still bad, I cut back the water thinking that was the problem but it has not gotten better.

It is also in the same part of the house that it started in thriving.

I will explain the plant, the lady I got it from said it was well known but I have no clue.

It is a very large leafed plant, that when healthy needs lots of water and sun, it flowers one white flower in the middle of all the leaves. So far that I can keep count on it has flowered three to five times a year, the flowers also have a long stem like "pollen holder" with large yellowish bumps on it.

Here is a pic I found that looks slighty like the flower just mine a pure white and the center is slimmer.
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/westcoastchoppers4602/detail?.dir=/91b4&.dnm=cdcc.jpg&.src=ph

The leaves are dark green, each one rangeing from 9 to 14 inchs long and at least 6 wide, they are also a oval shape.

Any help would be great a webpage featuring the plant would rock!!

THANKS A TON
Angel Eel

EDIT: The leaves did not turn yellow, they turned black all around the edges then worked in.

Is it a peace lily?

Here are a few care links for them:

http://www.denverplants.com/foliage/html/SpathL.htm[/font]

EDIT: Blackening leaves can be a sign of a few different problems....if it's getting too much or too little light, too much or too little water, sometimes the plant needs repotting and will blacken, sometimes there is too much or too little fertilizer or it could even indicate a water issue like too much chlorine or other dissolved salts in the water. The soil may be nutrient deficient or you may have rotten roots that need to be removed especially if it was overwatered in the past. Check for drafts of cold air that might be chilling the plant.

I would repot it, in a larger container with new potting soil mix....no fertilizer until it starts actively growing again. Water it sparingly with room temperature water (NOT cold) that has been allowed to sit an age for a bit, old tank water is excellent for watering plants because of the nitrogenous wastes and lack of chlorine. When you repot it, remove any dead leaves and roots. If you have to be merciless, do it. Peace lilies are fairly hardy as far as plants go. Check the space you keep the plant in, make sure it's not getting too much light or cold drafts. Water sparingly, my peace lilies are left until the soil almost dries out before I water them. Hope you can save it.

No cuppa, although they're often sold by mistake or stupidity in stores as aquatic plants. They'll survive but not for long or very well submerged. They're more terrerrium or pauladium plants.

angeleel,
Some lillies will die back Calla lillies for example, but peace lilly is quite a hardy plant. Prefers bright indirect light and daily watering although not too much. If it dries out and the leaves droop it'll usually pop back in a few hours of watering...boss likes to leave the heat on high and forget to water the plants, lock the door and leave for the weekend .

Your going to need to do a couple of things
1- put it in the shower- with luke warm water- let the shower completely drench the plant- your wanting to wash off any parasites that might be on there.
2- repot it- with new soil, washin ALL the dirt off the roots, and slightly trimming them. IF the base of the plant is mushy, or alot of the roots are mushy- its root rot, and its a goner. If only a few roots are mushy- rmove them comltely.
3- repot in GOOD soil, and water till soil is slightly damp In a pot with good drainage holes
4- put in a spot with moderate indirect sun.
5- take a pair of very sharp scissors- and following the shape of the leaves trimm all the dead/black stuff of the leaves
6- let the top inch or 2 of soil dry out before watering again
7 cross your fingers and hope for the best

Over watering can cause the soil to mold/mildew/go stale
it can also lead to root rot

leaving bad leaves on a plant- the plant tryes to heal the leaves- and can die spending all its "energy" trying to heal itself- trimming the dead spots off saves the plants nutrition and energy for its good leaves/roots- and makes for a healthier plant.

edited to add link that lists tons of plants- beware of popups though http://www.evergrowing.com/tips/

Miss MOppet, Thats the one, I knew I get answers around here =p

I have taken off all the dead parts, and repotted.

I don't know whats going on.

Maybe I should put it somewhere with a little more light? Try and dry it out more.

Thanks Angel Eel

it could be lack of light/ to much water/ or parasite

a good cleaning and repotting will take care of the last 2- if its getting 6-8 hours of moderate light- it should be fine for the next couple weeks- if it continues to get worse, or isnt improving in 2-3 weeks, then slowly move it towards stronger light. Dont give it any ferts till it shows improvemnt.

was any of the roots mushy?? or a white dandruff on the plant?

Here is the same plant growing in one of the main streets in Tropical Cairns.

There are many varieties of that plant. The other plants small leaved also grown in the same conditions. By the look of it, it is growing in some form of shade house. Usually the darker the leaves the more sun it can take. I did say "Usually"

I have also seen some of those plants growing as street scaping in full sun Warm Climate and you can be sure they would not get pampered there
