How Many Tanks Do You Have? | |
BubbleLover Hobbyist Posts: 64 Kudos: 32 Votes: 45 Registered: 12-Feb-2006 | Am I insane What is it about these fish that hypnotize you into wanting more to look at? Yes I've AGAIN fallen for the trap of setting up another tank. This time I've gone for a cichlids community. I was wondering just how many tanks do other people have and am I not the only insane person that makes more cleaning work for herself It's getting that I want to look at fish in any resting place in the house. Oh no does that mean the toilet is next?? Pics of your tanks would be great too. Cheers BubbleLover They love my bubbles 'pop' on their bum! http://photos.yahoo.com/shedevil_90 |

I only have two aquariums 1 x 49g and a smaller 2 foot (not sure of the volume). I really would like to get a larger tank - 72 x 24 x 18 would be great. My Clown Loaches need more space. |

covered-in-bees Fingerling I am not a mushroom! Posts: 47 Kudos: 36 Votes: 20 Registered: 16-Mar-2005 | I started 2 years ago with a 5g. It's empty now, but I have a 10g with a betta, a 29g community, a 44g with juliis, and a 125g community. I'm always on the lookout for more too! Especially free ones! My mother has an above ground pool that she never uses and every time I look at it all I think is "How many fish could you put in there??" |

Shinigami Ichthyophile Catfish/Oddball Fan Posts: 9962 Kudos: 2915 Registered: 22-Feb-2001 | I've got a few fish tanks at home... At three, I'm probably on the lower side of the multiple tank syndrome, but only because my parents probably wouldn't be too excited about my tanks taking over their house. I've got a 125 "community" (it's meant to be, but it's only got a Royal Plec), a 55 gallon saltwater with two clownfish and soon to be more fish, and a 20 gallon tank that's divided between a Black Lancer and a Mudskipper and is basically a temporary set-up until I get home for the summer so I can do things. My empty aquariums include another 55 gallon, a 10 gallon, and a 5 gallon Minibow plastic thing that I probably won't ever use again... I've got plenty of ideas, but there are limits both because of parents and because of cash flow. Right now, cash is going towards expanding my existing set-ups rather than for equipment to set up more aquariums (which for some reason I lack... I guess I break equipment really easily or something...). I should put more money towards aquascaping, though. My tanks are all pretty hideous or plain, which is probably why my parents banished most of them to the ba -------------------------------------------- The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. |

Theresa_M Moderator Queen of Zoom Posts: 3649 Kudos: 4280 Votes: 790 Registered: 04-Jan-2004 | This is the shot from the other end, near the computer. That entire computer/tank area is technically the 'dining room' The 5.5g is on a kitchen counter, the 2.5g in my bedroom, and there is another double stand with 2x 10g in the actual living room. I'd love to have a fish room if we ever owned our own place, but the spouse actually likes having the tanks in the type of setting they are now. We moved here 2 years ago; I don't remember exactly how many tanks I had then, the 30g was the largest at the time. I do know that's something I don't want to do again for a very long time The 29g is the first tank I had, it was a surprise Xmas gift from the spouse. He helped with setup for that one but I've done pretty much everything else myself. These photos are actually a bit old and the tanks have changed some; I guess I should take some new pics ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

BubbleLover Hobbyist Posts: 64 Kudos: 32 Votes: 45 Registered: 12-Feb-2006 | Very nice Theresa. Can I ask how often you clean your tanks and do you do them all in the one day or do so many one day and the others the next?? Theresa_M Moderator Queen of Zoom Posts: 3649 Kudos: 4280 Votes: 790 Registered: 04-Jan-2004 | All the tanks get weekly water changes; sometimes my grow-out tanks are twice weekly. I usually do all but the 75g in one day, that one is a pretty big project. Under the fish poster in the first pic I now have a dry erase board where I keep track of when the tanks last got cleaned. I work nights so I get home, sleep for a few hours, do the tanks and then go back to bed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

My parents have put a limit on me so I can't get anymore tanks at the moment. I have: 55g FW community 29g FW community 10g Betta/Harlie tank 5g extra plant tank and an empty 38g which I hope to set up this summer and an empty 2.5g hex. I would love to have something bigger than a 55g, but I will have to wait until I have my own place. Then I can have as many tanks as I want! I'll have to post pictures later because I'm at work. |
