I quit! | |
Lindy Administrator Show me the Shishies! Posts: 1507 Kudos: 1350 Votes: 730 Registered: 25-Apr-2001 | Smoking, that is. For many reasons but mainly the thought of trying to explain to my children why mummy has to carry around an oxygen tank or worse makes me really sad. I have a spray that I have to use every 4 hours for the first few days. I'll be in chat alot, especially at night trying to distract myself so come and say hello. Evenings seem to be the worst time for my habit. I also have some knitting and beading projects to distract me. Will be starting tomorrow morning. Wish me luck! Hopefully, you lead by example and it will start a non-smoking FP! (I know.. easy for me to say) Good luck anyway! "it's the neck, it creaks under the weight of too much heavy thinking." |

Keep yourself busy and avoid places and situations where you used to smoke, at least for the first little while. ___________________________________________ If at first you DO succeed, try not to look astonished. |

I congratulate anyone who willingly gives up a difficult vice, but its not a vice to me. I thought non-smoking pubs were a stupid idea, but non-smoking forums? Thats nuts! Theres encouraging good health and then theres stamping on peoples personal liberties. There'll be thought police next. Well done to lindy though. |

Addictions are hard to get over smoking will be hard but I know your heart and soul is in it so you'll do it! From all the studies i've heard of on the quitting smoking in particular the desire to quit is the biggest help. I know it took me a long time to manage some of my addictions (most people dont consider them anything but bad habits ) but it does feel so good to know you're in control of your body and not your body controlling you! Stay strong girl! Your health is worth it! ^_^ |

As soon as I got home though I went right back Do you chew gum or like hard candies? Those are supposed to help as well. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

Wish I could convince my dad to quite. IM *this* close to pulling the old "but daddy, I want you to be there to give me away at my wedding" bit, but I know that would be cruel. |

OldTimer Mega Fish USAF Retired Posts: 1181 Kudos: 1294 Votes: 809 Registered: 08-Feb-2005 | Good luck, Lindy...I quit smoking almost 30 years ago, but I also used chewing tobacco. Quiting the smoking was the easy part, giving up the chew was really tough. However, never regret doing it. The thing with quitting smoking is that once you do, you can hardly stand to be around anyone or be anyplace where smoking is going on. Jim |

I made Adrian take all the packs of smokes with him today so I wouldnt be tempted. He isnt ready to give them up yet. Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes.
