Smoking, that is.

For many reasons but mainly the thought of trying to explain to my children why mummy has to carry around an oxygen tank or worse makes me really sad.

I have a spray that I have to use every 4 hours for the first few days. I'll be in chat alot, especially at night trying to distract myself so come and say hello. Evenings seem to be the worst time for my habit. I also have some knitting and beading projects to distract me.

Will be starting tomorrow morning. Wish me luck!

GOOD LUCK!! I know it won't be easy but it must be done! Hopefully, you lead by example and it will start a non-smoking FP!

(I know.. easy for me to say)

Good luck anyway!

Congratulations on your decision Lindy. Your going to feel soooo much better, it might not seem like it at first but you will be happy you decided to give it up.

Good Luck.

woo hoo Lindy, I quit about 3 months ago. I feel so much better. Keep yourself busy and avoid places and situations where you used to smoke, at least for the first little while.

Non smoking fp? Haha, thatll be the day. I congratulate anyone who willingly gives up a difficult vice, but its not a vice to me. I thought non-smoking pubs were a stupid idea, but non-smoking forums? Thats nuts! Theres encouraging good health and then theres stamping on peoples personal liberties. There'll be thought police next.

Well done to lindy though.

Oh lindy I'm so happy for you This means you'll have more money for all those tim tams the hubby keeps eating!

Addictions are hard to get over smoking will be hard but I know your heart and soul is in it so you'll do it! From all the studies i've heard of on the quitting smoking in particular the desire to quit is the biggest help. I know it took me a long time to manage some of my addictions (most people dont consider them anything but bad habits ) but it does feel so good to know you're in control of your body and not your body controlling you!

Stay strong girl! Your health is worth it!

^_^

Good Luck Lindy! I quit March 3rd and it was definitely the hardest thing I have ever done.

Good for you and good luck

I was in the hospital for 5 days in January...couldn't smoke, didn't miss it (I was even offered the patch). As soon as I got home though I went right back

Do you chew gum or like hard candies? Those are supposed to help as well.

I don't think these patches or gums or whats so ever helps..maybe it does but i think it's only you,if you set your mind to stop smoking i think you could do it!
I have to stop aswell, iam in bad shape
Good luck to you Lindy

Congrats! If I knew you, I would so totaly cook you a big dinner on your 30th smoke free day...
*hugs* keep it up!
Wish I could convince my dad to quite. IM *this* close to pulling the old "but daddy, I want you to be there to give me away at my wedding" bit, but I know that would be cruel.

i always tell people who try to quit smoking that quitting is very easy. just stop buying cigarettes!

seriously though, good luck quitting. it wasn't very hard for me, but i had only been smoking for about two years. and if you need a distraction to stop you smoking, i think you have two little reasons that will appreciate the cleaner air

Good luck, Lindy...I quit smoking almost 30 years ago, but I also used chewing tobacco. Quiting the smoking was the easy part, giving up the chew was really tough. However, never regret doing it. The thing with quitting smoking is that once you do, you can hardly stand to be around anyone or be anyplace where smoking is going on.

Does this mean you're back from being away now? If so I'll send the Butterfingers I brought back. They should help take your mind off smoking too .

JB, yep i'm back. Butterfingers will definately keep my mind off the cigs.
I made Adrian take all the packs of smokes with him today so I wouldnt be tempted. He isnt ready to give them up yet.
