Hang in there, Lindy. It's a tough thing to accomplish, but if you are determined to get it done you will. A few set backs can be expected, but just keep trying.

Maybe change to roll ups first? Sometimes it can take the pace out of smoking, and then you can begin to cut down gently.Plus you can just smoke parts of a rolly and make a few fags last a whole day instead of piling away packs of filters. Failing that I find a hundred weight of mint imperials helps .lol.

Last time I gave up smoking I gained 3 stone, have since decided its healthier to smoke and weigh 13 stone rather than be smoke free and weigh 16 stone

If you really want to quit im sure you will, I sense you have the willpower, but it helps to cut down stress in other areas of your life too, before beginning. Lets be honest, as far as addictions go, smoking is in the little leagues. Some of us have given up far worse things in the past than smoking! My dad has a rather weird regime that works for him, he basically quit about 15 years ago, except he allows himself one cigarette every wednesday. I guess thats quitting to the point that it makes no difference anymore.

Good luck, and dont take setbacks too hard. Its just quitting in progress.

You guys are very encouraging and I thank you for it.

I will persevere, I want to. Its damned hard though! I've done it before when pregnant. (I was silly and went back to it after. )
At the moment I am getting through the day with none, but as soon as the other half gets home I have one. I'm trying to change the way I handle stress which there can be lots of with a 3yo in the house!

When I was little my brother and I would threaten my parents with the "We won't kiss you anymore if you still smell like that".... It worked for a while. *my dad is a really bad closet smoker again. I say really bad because he THINKS he is in the closet with it, but, we all know*

It's trick psychology but it worked.

Hi Robby,
I wish I had succeeded but all I have managed to do is cut down to 4 a day. I guess its better than nothing. I'll reach my goal of 0 eventually.

Lindy
