After 170some posts, I am finally starting a thread for the first time, and I hate that it has to be under this circumstance.

My 20-gallon tank at my office had an ich outbreak recently, and I purchased Rid Ich + with 4.26% formaldehyde (containing 11.52% formalin), zinc-free chloride, and salt of malachite green.
This morning, I accidentally got some of this medication on the wall. (No, I am not 6, but it's Saturday and was frustrated with having to run a couple work errands and despite those frustrations, I did not do this on purpose consciously or subconsciously.)
I tried three different types of cleaners to get the medication off. I was able to clear what looks like a layer away, but the stain is still ridiculously obvious. As Murphy's Law would have it, this was the very last treatment, too.

Any ideas?

Hi,
That stuff will even stain the silicone that holds the
tank together. I don't know of anything that will remove
it. However, depending upon the wall color you could use
some "white out" from the office. It comes in various shades
along with the traditional white. Or, a new picture, or a
fresh paint job?

nah, you aren't going to have any luck i'm afraid.

Paint over it or put a tasteful flower arrangement there?

You will have to remove the offending wall and replace it with a giant fish tank

Thanks for the replies.

Don't worry, I've done the same thing. Pure bleach and a rag should get it off of white paint well enough. If not, repaint the sucker. A splash of dechlor after the treatment prevents more erroding.

One possibility is this. Use an organic solvent on the wall. Something like nail varnish remover. CAn't guarantee that it will work, but it's worth a try. Trouble is, it might remove the paint as well.

I covered it up with a sign.

The wall is painted light blue, so I couldn't use anything too strong.
Thanks again.

I hate it when you get the stuff on your hands, you know you're doomed then"so what is that on your hands?" "Uh nothing..."

And you're not alone, all of my tanks have blue silicone:%) and while I was growing up I thought that is what color it was supposed to beNow my 55 gallon has blue silicone, blue tubing, blue airstones, and who knows what else i'm leaving out that is blue repainting it or covering it up was all you could do...heidi
