Many lost fish, incompatible setups, and just plain ignorant to fishkeeping. I'm still no expert but I do have a good general idea of how to maintain a good tank. I currently am running four, who would've guessed. The reason this came to mind was that I kinda just figured out that most of the LFS I have been regularly doing business with are really not that knowledgeable. There's two really good ones who are at least up front when they don't know and also I have seen them inform people that certain fish would not be right for their tank, one half way decent, and two that I have come to realize really just sell fish. In one of the stores the other day I was looking at their Mbuna stock and a fish caught my eye as I had never seen it before. It was definitely a zebra but I had never seen this variation. When I asked the store owner he told me he didn't know and that it was definetly some type of zebra. Well, no duh. Bottom line is I think he did know and knowing that I have a general knowledge of Mbuna, at least the common ones, he did not want to tell me that it was a hybrid. Probably a mix between a red top and a cobalt or something in that range. This shop does generally have decent fish but I see know that you really must know your stuff when getting into this hobby. Thank goodness for this site and the others I frequently check out. By all means marry; if you get a good wife, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher. In one LFS/Pet shop only one person knows about fish and that is the owner who is not there all the time. A good way to find out is ask a very simple question which you know the answer or ask for some one who knows about what you are talking about. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do.
