Currently, i have my desk fan propped up on a tin blowing directly at it.

A webbit is a rabbit-shaped wireless modem. Its a new thing out here and as such, the BF had to get it. Its a hassle. its forever overheating and slowing right down, and in the rain, forget it.

considering our weather here is either roasting or raining, i am not liking this connection much.

When we get our own place we are putting custom antenna on it (sat dish maybe?) and will probably work out a different cooling system, but for now, what do you suggest?

I suggest a team of Oompa Loompas blowing on it. These little dudes have serious lung power!

desk fan near puter may not be such a good idea. I have seen the EM field wipe a hard disk, so make sure your fan is a good distance away from your puter.

When you say overheating, how hot? - network hardware usually has to get pretty hot before it stops.

It is a pretty cute modem though, me, i'd take the side off my puter, cos if it's yoo hot for the modem, it's too hot for the puter, plug a 120mm fan in and prop it up in front of the modem

Its on the opposite side to my case, and up on the desk, so hopefully EM fields shouldn't be a worry.

The case has rather a lot of fan-ination, with more being added before next year.

It doesn't get hot hot, its like cement on a sunny day hot. Its not stopping so much as the 'signal strength' indicator light goes red. If you cool it down, it goes orange again, so its def overheating to the point where i am losing performance

I was considering making a saddlebag type arrangement to mount two fans over it, but them i'm not sure if the heat created by the running fans would negate the value of the moving air. Plus i don't know if i can do it

what sorta temps are we talking about? Of course, if you were in th UK, i'd say open a window and turn your heating down, but you're not, so that might not be the correct response

Does it have any obvious vents? If not, experiment with finding the most effective place to put the fan. I wouldnt think a saddlebag would work, because it's not the fans themselves which cool, it's the airflow, and you have to maximise the airflow to maximise the cooling.

Set it by the window, and keep the window open and have a fan blowing on it...

Or of course, you could always put it in the freezer

Roasted Wabbit for supper anyone

Big Pond (my provider) supplied mine FREE and will replace it if necessary any time. It is a decent size black box under a shelf and never runs hot regardless of the room temp.
