I've had my frontosas for just over 3 years, got them as 1" little things and now they are all pushing 8". Things have changed around here though and I just dont have the space for their tank anymore. So I've been on the hunt for a new home for them.

Some of you have heard my angry thoughts at the people who've wanted to buy them from me that had a 2ft tank which they believed would be fine for 4 of them! The couple that are buying them got put through "20 questions" and a "prove to me you'll be good owners" session so i'm satisfied the fish will be well looked after. Knowing this doesnt take away the anxiety i feel for their well being though.

They are going to their new home tomorrow night. I'm going to miss everything about them.

*believes she may be crazy for feeling the way she does*

Awww Well at least you know they're going to a great home, and you've treated them to a long a healthy life. Are you going to raise more?
So sorry you have to give them up.

I can truly sympathize with how you feel Lindy. I have only had my 185 set-up with my 5 fronts for a month and I am so worried something might happen to them. My wife is calling it my frontosa phobia that I drive myself crazy, waiting for something to happen, even though everything is perfectly normal.
It would upset me to no-end if I hade to give them up.
Maybe someday you could start them again. Until then check for update pictures of how mine progress. I dont have the equipment that babel and Keith have or anywere near the experience, but me and my little canon zr45 digital video camcorder will do our best.
And if you are crazy for feeling the way you do then there are a lot of us out there.

Awwww Lindy .

I felt the same way, still do in fact, about my goldfishieeee. I really know I need to get him a real pond, but so far haven't found anyone that has anything other than those dinky pre-formed ones from homedepot. I know that he'd be happier in one, but I can't stand knowing that someone else would be feeding him peas, and lettting him nibble their fingers.....I rescued him from my boss, got him thru ich, and well....not much else...but he's my fav of all my shishies .

Yeah a 2ft tank.
Tommy, I didnt realise you had frontosas, I shall keep eyes out for photos of yours. Let me know when there are some pics around so I can see them.

I was going to take some last minute pics of mine before they left but the light has started to flicker and I cant get out to a store to get another one. I guess the several hundred pics I have on my computer already will have to do.

Maybe one day I can get some of these fellas again for myself. On the up side to it all i've been convinced to set up a 55g tank. A tank that size is a little easier to squeeze into spaces! So all you Planted Aquaria forum people look out for my questions soon.

Thanks for the understanding guys.

Just a couple of shots here.
Trying to figure out how to get rid of that grainy look
Should ask Babel for some photo advise.

Grainy-ness comes from two factors, higher ISO and low light.

I've never kept (or reasearched for that matter ) frontosas so I don't know if they'd flip out under increased light, but that would be my first suggestion. Easiest thing I've found is to grab a few desk lamps, stick in a matching screw in florescent bulb to match the color of your tank lights

and shoot away. While I don't normally like using the flash (even after careful study of the fishes reaction to flashes @the aquarium I still dont' think sudden bursts of light are good for fish) that will help as well buy allowing you to shoot @a lower ISO (100 or 200) but @the same shutter speed.

If you're lucky enought to have a ring light for the camera I suppose that would offer you the best option. You might make do by using some fill light on the front of the tank (not too much so as to confuse the fishes direction of Up)....anyway, raid the house for any and all ajustable lamps, get a few bulbs from home depot or wherever, and settle down for a few extended photo shoots. .

(sorry to steal lindy )
