RAST,
I build models, they're lots of fun. I see hundreds of hobby shops around Australia. What city are you from. Just check the yellow pages under "hobby".

My brother builds tons of models. Almostexclusively military aircraft. They're really well-done too. He gets all his models online, if you want the URLs I might be able to get them for you... but anyway, he's got at least 50 finished ones around and they're all very realistic.

RAST, go to the (or call) the shop you bought the model from about the broken piece. There must be a distributor for the models/brand here somewhere that can arrange a replacement piece.

Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

It's all coming togethere now.

Just about finished painting the shell. Black of course. It comes with some gold racing strips so will go pretty nice I am thinking.

No one from the states wants to help??? With the broken piece.

I think it stinks that they sell the kits here in Australia but not support anything else.

Well I bought some.

A Chevy Xtreme S-10 ute and also a Shelby Mustang. So that should keep me busy for a few weeks at night! Give me something else to do while watching TV.

Cool.

I had done a few when I was growing up at like the age of 12- 15 or something like that. But now I am a little older and had done a few last year (now I am 24) so I am wanting to get in and do a few more.

HERE - meaning Australia. Sorry I should have clarified that one.

I am maybe looking for a hobby place in Brissie if anyone knows of a good place. I am venturing down there this weekend but I go down there every month just about so will keep looking.

Thanks.

I used to build some model planes and cars, but that was quite a few years ago.

Actually I don't have them anymore because I launched them all with those little model rocket motors; even the cars

I haven't done built any in a while, but I've got two or three hiding in a closet, waiting for me to remember that they exist. Oh... wait... I just did, didn't I?

I normally buy from craft stores or a shop nearby that focuses entirely on models and remote control vehicles. They have a HUGE selection of every conceivable type of model.

Not sure where exactly "here" is for you, but here in the states, there's quite a few brands, AMT probably on the lower end (pieces are hard to fit together and of lesser quality) and revell-monogram being quite excellent. The models range from 10-15 or so USD, much more for the larger scales.

Between my dad, my sister and I, we probably have over twenty models ranging from older model cars (mine) to the newer models (my sis) to army helicopters and planes (dad) and even a Blue Angel flying formation (sister). My sister has recently gotten into ships and is currently taking up our model-building table with a large wooden ship model.

Our models have taken over the top of the entertainment center downstairs and some have been hung from the ceiling (the planes, obviously!). We've kind of slowed down because, like... there's no more room. We're debating making a narrow shelf just below the ceiling to display them. Hopefully an enclosed shelf, because those things are a pain to dust!

~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~
